Project scale

According to the company material preserved in SPLOT export, in 2024 production of more than 1,000,000 meters of textile webbing string in one and a half months for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games project. With this volume, performance must go hand in hand with repeatability and schedule control.

A fixed date event does not give you space to shift delivery. Production plan, availability of raw materials, finishing and packing and logistics must be synchronized before launching the series.

Three main risks

Exports indicate three challenges: a short implementation time, a very high volume and a lack of tolerance for delays. In practice, this means the need to secure material, capacity and quality control on an ongoing basis, not only on final delivery.

  • Conformity of material and colour between lots
  • Stable production line performance
  • Dimension, appearance and performance control
  • Buffer on finishing and packing, packaging and transport

Organisation of production

The process started with the qualification of raw materials and parameters. The production was then divided into controlled batches during implementation. This allows to detect deviations and reduce the risk that the problem will cover the entire volume.

After the execution of textile webbing, the next stages included assembly, finishing and control of finished elements. For the event order, the schedule of these operations is as important as weaving or knitting itself.

Lessons for high-volume orders

In mass production it is worth confirming a sample, reception criteria, daily or weekly bandwidth, milestones, reporting format and responsibility for transport. A good plan also assumes a way of handling deviations without stopping the entire process.

This experience shows the ability to carry out a large-scale project. Each new order still requires separate assessment of material, volume, deadline and available production capacity.
