The most important concepts needed to talk to the producer — without an encyclopediaal excess.
How to use the dictionary
These definitions describe concepts in the context of narrow textile products: textile webbing, elastic tape, cord and woven labels. In practice, the industry name can be used slightly different depending on the technology, so it is worth combining the term with a drawing, dimension or sample.
If the parameter is critical, do not rely on the name only. Save the value, tolerance and method of measurement.
Terms from A to Z
- Aglet
- The lace tip or cord, which protects the fibres and facilitates the passage through the mesh.
- Aramid
- A fibre family with specific mechanical and thermal characteristics; selection requires reference to a specific specification.
- Hot cut
- Separation of thermoplastic material while limiting edge shredding.
- Ultrasonic cut
- A technique for separating and welding edges with high frequency vibrations.
- Elastic cord
- Flexible core surrounded by textile braid, used, among others, with regulators and stopwatches.
- Finishing and packing
- Operations after fabrication: cutting, folding, folding, assembling, assembly, assembly or packaging.
- Crosno
- Machine forming a product woven by interlacing warp and thread.
- Latex elastic thread
- An extension element for some elastic tape; may be in a textile braid.
- Osnow
- Arrangement of threads running along a woven product.
- Wire
- Structure created by cross-band interlacing, often used in cord and links.
- Report
- The pattern episode after which the theme begins to repeat.
- SPLOT
- The manner in which the threads are held and bonded, affecting the appearance and properties of the product.
- Sublimation printing
- The technology of applying the dye to the appropriate material under temperature.
- Textile webbing knitted
- A narrow product made of meshes; its flexibility and grip depend on the structure and yarn.
- Load-bearing webbing
- Textile webbing designed to carry specific loads in a given system; it requires appropriate qualification.
- Textile webbing woven
- The narrow product was created by interlacing the warp and thread.
- Thread
- Yarn or arrangement of thread inserted transversely into the warp while weaving.
- Woven label type center fold
- Label folded in half, usually sewn with both edges in the suture.
- Jacquard textile
- A technique for controlling individual warp strands, allowing weaving complex designs and inscriptions.
